Treating periodontitis in the early stages can help prevent the disease from progressing.\u00a0<b>If left untreated, these diseases can lead to tooth loss!<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Periodontitis (it\u2019s like a cold):<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>gum inflammation caused by dental bacteria<\/li>\n<li>bleeding when brushing teeth, red and swollen gums, bad breath<\/li>\n<li>successfully treated by removing tartar, proper oral hygiene and curettage (cleaning periodontal pockets)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Periodontal disease (it\u2019s like pneumonia):<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>advanced stage of untreated periodontitis with destruction of the bone supporting the teeth<\/li>\n<li>gum recession, loose teeth, deep periodontal pockets and abscesses (accumulation of pus at the level of the gum or tooth root)<\/li>\n<li>can be maintained\/stabilized with complex treatment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Symptoms of periodontal disease<\/b><\/p>\n<p>\u2192 Change in gum color (from pink to red)<\/p>\n<p>\u2192 Bleeding gums while brushing teeth<\/p>\n<p>\u2192 Gums are inflamed, swollen, red or tender<\/p>\n<p>\u2192 Gum retraction (exposure of tooth roots)<\/p>\n<p>\u2192 Presence of periodontal pockets (deep spaces that form between the gums and teeth that lead to infections)<\/p>\n<p>\u2192 Mobility and displacement of teeth (looseness)<\/p>\n<p>\u2192 Pain or discomfort when chewing<\/p>\n<p>\u2192 Bad breath (halitosis)<\/p>\n<p>\u2192 The appearance of pus around the teeth or in periodontal pockets.<\/p>\n<p><b>Causes of periodontal disease<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The main cause of periodontal disease is lack of regular teeth cleaning. Normally, the oral cavity is home to about 700 different types of harmless bacteria. If we do not brush our teeth regularly and do not maintain proper oral hygiene, the number of bacteria reaches more than 100 billion and the result is \u2192 gingivitis (inflammation of the gums caused by bacteria). Without treatment, the disease progresses and enters the next stage \u2192 periodontitis.<\/p>\n<p>\u219d\u00a0<b>Poor oral hygiene<\/b>\u00a0(lack of regular brushing, not using dental floss, not visiting the dentist regularly).
